PolicyNumbers was built to make insurance verification fast and reliable for developers, insurers, and brokers. Checking whether a policy number is genuine — and which insurer holds it — should take milliseconds, not days. We built the API we wished existed.
We run a REST API for insurance policy verification across the UK, Germany, and France. Embed it in quote flows, onboarding, or fraud checks — it returns a result in under 2 seconds with a confidence score and a matched FCA- or BaFin-registered insurer.
Insurance fraud costs the UK market over £1 billion a year. Most of it starts with an unverified policy number. The verification infrastructure that exists today is fragmented, manual, and inaccessible via API. We're changing that.
Alongside the API we maintain a free catalog of UK economic indicators — inflation, energy prices, housing costs, and more — sourced from ONS, Ofgem, and the Bank of England and updated automatically. It powers the context our customers use to price risk accurately.
