PolicyNumbers operates at policynumbers.com. We provide an insurance policy verification API and a public UK economic data catalog. For data protection purposes, PolicyNumbers is the data controller. Contact us at admin@policynumbers.com.

• API key registration — your name or email address when you generate an API key.
• API usage logs — endpoint called, timestamp, API key identifier, and HTTP response code. We do not log request or response bodies.
• Email alerts — your email address if you subscribe to data alerts.
• Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID; we never see or store card details.
• Analytics — anonymised page-view and API-call data via Google Analytics 4. No personal identifiers are sent to Google.

• To authenticate your API requests and enforce usage limits.
• To send email verification links when you generate an API key with an email address.
• To send data alert digests if you have subscribed.
• To detect and prevent abuse (fake keys, automated scanning).
• To understand how the API and site are used so we can improve them.

• Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
• Amazon Web Services (eu-west-2) — hosting, database, and email delivery. Data is stored within the UK/EEA region.
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymised usage analytics. Subject to Google's privacy policy.

We do not sell your data to any third party.

• API keys — retained while active. Inactive free-plan keys unused for 7+ days are deactivated and may be deleted after 90 days.
• API usage logs — retained for 90 days, then deleted.
• Email alert subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
• Payment records — retained for 7 years to meet legal accounting obligations.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations.
• Object to or restrict processing.
• Lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).

We use a single session cookie for theme preference (light/dark mode) and an analytics cookie set by Google Analytics 4. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
